PSYMORPH

PSYMORPH is an interactive experience that explores the symbiotic relationship between the electrical activity in our minds, and the visual manifestation of this activity. Brainwaves from the individual are measured, and the data gives form to an ever-shifting, Rorschach-like entity: Your thoughts influence its form, and its form influences your thoughts. The more focused and attentive an individual becomes, the  larger, more active, and more complex the forms become.

The ‘Psymorph’ installation and ‘Symbionts’ print series are inspired by persistent thought and the belief that a form which cannot be defined can exist in our minds, uncaged. I’m fascinated with Rorschach forms and pareidolia, and the ability of our minds to find meaning in abstract and ambiguous forms. These forms are created to inspire contemplation on possibility, and the things which lie beyond what we can categorize, existing as many possibilities all at once.
